KARACHI: Essa Nagri graves to be shifted

KARACHI, June 18: The city government’s Revenue Department has allotted four acres near the new Sabzi Mandi on the Super Highway for shifting graves from the Essa Nagri cemetery affected by the Lyari Expressway project.

This was said at a meeting held in connection with the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project. The Nazim of Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town, Wasay Jalil, presided over the meeting.

The meeting was informed that a graveyard with all facilities including lines, roads and a boundary wall was being set up on the allotted land.

The graves that are to be shifted include those being affected by the Lyari River water passing through the LEW project. These graves are already in a dilapidated condition.

The city government has announced to bear the shifting cost of these graves.

Mr Jalil along with the LERP Project Director, Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, and other officials also undertook a visit of the resettlement project site at Taiser Town.

He asked all the affected of the LEW to shift to Taiser Town and other resettlement sites at the earliest while assuring them of all civic facilities there.—PPI
