KARACHI, June 18: Around 119 plots of Railway Employees Cooperative Housing Society (Project-2A), located near Aladin Park, have been illegally occupied by land mafia allegedly in connivance with some office-bearers of the Society.
Affected persons said more than 17 years have elapsed since they were allotted plots, the PRECHS’ office-bearers concerned have, so far, neither undertaken demarcation nor given physical possession, thus giving a free hand to land mafia.
Accusing the office-bearers of delaying issuance of physical possession of over 100 plots, measuring 240 and 120 square yards, to allottees on the pretext of demarcation, an office-bearer of the affected persons’ welfare organisation, Najeeb Shah, said since the RECHS had not yet undertaken demarcation work, armed guards who remain present at the society’s land, not only manhandle allottees but also threaten them of dire consequences.
The affected persons deplored that although they had brought the issue to the notice of higher authorities, including the president, the prime minister, the Railways’ minister, the Sindh governor, the home minister, IGP and Gulshan Town’s Nazim, SDPO and the SHO concerned, the land-grabbers are still occupying their plots.
They appealed to the authorities to help retrieve their plots from clutches of land mafia and direct the RECHS’ officials to give physical possession to retired persons, widows and orphans.
