Prisoners’ lists exchanged with India

ISLAMABAD, June 17: Pakistan and India have exchanged lists of each other’s civilian prisoners under an agreement envisaging their release, the foreign ministry said on Saturday.

“We have conveyed to the Indian side a list of 493 Pakistani civilian prisoners held in Indian jails,” the ministry said in a statement. It said the national status of 213 prisoners had been confirmed by Pakistan and they were awaiting release from the Indian jails.

Another 169 prisoners were awaiting consular access while the status of 111 was in the process of determination, it said.—AFP
