DADU, June 16: Acting President and Senate Chairman Mohammadmian Soomro has termed the federal budget people-friendly and said it provides more relief to the common man. He told reporters during a visit to Dargah Qalandar Lal Shahbaz in Sehwan on Friday that the budget had brought relief to people in the form of lower rates of food items. He said that the government was making efforts to control prices of all the essential items and it would take stern action against the traders who were overcharging people.
Replying to a question, Mr Soomro said that it was totally unethical to put up hindrances to journalists’ work and make it difficult for them to perform their duty.
He said that Sindh chief minister had taken strong action against people who were involved in victimising journalists and assured that security would be provided to them.
Later, he attended a briefing about the ongoing development work on the shrine of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz. DCO Dadu, DCO Jamshoro and chief administrator Auqaf and DPOs of Dadu and Jamshoro were also present on the occasion.
TALUKA BUDGET: Manjhand taluka council passed on Thursday a tax-free and surplus budget of Rs52.06 million.
Convenor Niaz Mohammad Khoso presided over the session, which passed the Rs426,041 surplus budget.
Council members Haji Khan Khoso, Ramzan Khoso, Partab Rai and Shah Mohammad Shah spoke on the budget before it was passed unanimously.
PROTEST: About 400 people staged a demonstration in Sehwan on Friday to protest against taluka nazim who they said had failed to solve their problems. The protesters led by the nazim of union council-1, Farooq Solangi and the nazim of UC-2, Ashraf Solangi marched on different roads of the town and also observed a token hunger strike.
