Asad fires Pindi to victory

ISLAMABAD, June 15: Asad Zahid stroked a sparkling 117 off only 95 balls to lead Rawalpindi to a nine-wicket victory over Jhelum in the PCB Under-19 Inter-district cricket championship on Thursday.

After dismissing Jhelum for 181 in 45 overs, Rawalpindi were home in the 33rd over. Umar Amin remained unbeaten on 59.

At the Diamond Ground, overnight rain spoilt the start with only 23 overs possible in the match between AJK and Islamabad. AJK managed to score 76 for the loss of one wicket.

Rawalpindi beat Jhelum by nine wkts.

APP adds from Karachi: The matches in the Karachi region have been rescheduled from Saturday at the request of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA).

Sirajul Islam Bukhari, the KCCA secretary, said the reason behind the decision was that it was not possible to complete the process of holding trials for seven zonal teams and conducting scrutiny etc in such a time.
