KARACHI: Towns’ plans for rain emergency


KARACHI, June 15: The administrations of different towns have started work on various plans to meet any monsoon rain emergency in the city.

Work on cleaning storm-water drains has started on the directive of Nazim Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town Mohammad Wasey Jalil.

The cleaning of storm-water drain on Sir Shah Suleman Road has started, and as per plan, heap of garbage from all nine drains running in the town would be removed.

Mr Jalil along with the town’s Naib Nazim Sohaib Akhtar, TO Shafiqur Rehman and officials of the water board the cleaning work of drains on Thursday.

Similarly, a rain emergency centre has been established in Site Town on the directive of its Nazim, Izharuddin Ahmed Khan.

Its objective is to repair and clean all drains of the town before the upcoming monsoon rains.

He also directed officials and staff of the sanitation department to complete the task of repair and cleaning of drains on war footing so that people may not face any kind of difficulty and so that their property is protected.—APP
