KARACHI, June 15: The government has formed a committee headed by Justice (retd) Saleem Akhtar to review the existing Trade Organisations Ordinance-1961 for matching the present and future regulatory requirements of trade bodies.
The Trade Organisations Ordinance, which regulates trade bodies including trade associations and chambers, was being revised by the government to ensure efficient and effective operation of various trade bodies in the country.
The ordinance was formulated in 1961 and since then the operational and regulatory requirements of trade bodies and industry had greatly changed, says a FPCCI statement here on Thursday.
The 8-member committee includes as members: Nasim Qureshi, additional secretary Commerce; Razi-ur-Rehman Khan, chairman, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, president FPCCI; Moin M Fudda, country director, CIPE; Babar Badat, Nadeem-ul-Haq, Trade Policy advisor, ministry of commerce; Malik Ahmad Khan, member (retd)Central Board of Revenue.—APP
