HYDERABAD, June 14: The participants of the ongoing 10th Sindh Games have lashed out at organisers for staging the event in a casual manner in addition to making their lodging and boarding uncomfortable.

They were of the view that instead of staging opening ceremony in an extravagant manner, the accommodation facilities could have been improved.

They proposed that budgetary allocations for the next edition should be raised in order to improve facilities for athletes.

A visit to the hostels of Public school where athletes are staying revealed that much talked about food -street was almost non-existent and visitors are complaining of substandard quality of eatables they are purchasing.

Each athlete is to be provided Rs150 daily allowance for six days' stay.

Manager of Karachi women’s hockey team, Sanobar Kazmi, said that proper gear are not provided to her contingent while the T-shirts that were given are double extra large.

"The players of every region are sleeping on the floor as no beddings are provided whereas officials have been provided mattress and pillow," she alleged.

Kanwal Aijaz, who suffered nose injury during a match, said the doctor who examined her only gave a bandage despite the fact that her injury was serious.

"When I came to hostel, bleeding again started and I was rushed to Bhittai Hospital on my own where I received a stitch on my nose. Now I am OK," she said.

The players did not bring their own beddings which they were required as per climatic conditions and was communicated two months back to each chief de mission. The organisers claimed that half of the six days daily allowance, as per practice, has been given to chiefs de mission.
