Rizwana delights home fans with fine double: Four new records in swimming

HYDERABAD, June 14: Four new records in swimming and a double by Hyderabad’s Rizwana Waseem in athletics were the highlights of the second day of 10th Sindh Games on Wednesday.
Larkana’s Mohib Ali Chandio who the other day established new record in 200m backstroke, amassed three gold and a silver which earned him “best swimmer” of the games award.
Karachi swimmer Zeeshan Saleem created a new games record in 100m covering the distance in 1:05:94. The record of 1: 12: 92 was set by Javed Taqi, Sadiq Rasheed claimed silver while the bronze went to Sahib Khan.
Zeeshan claimed his second gold of the day in 50m butterfly. He was followed by Larkana's Mohib Ali Chandio and Hyderabad’s Sadiq Rasheed.
Karachi’s quartet comprising Zeeshan, Ahsan, Usman and Aniq set a new mark in 4x50m freestyle relay, clocking 2:04:18.
Karachi's Aneeq Anwar and Larkana's Mohib Ali Chandio set two more new records in 200m breaststroke and 100m backstroke. The former clocked 2:57:59 to break the record of Suleman Sheesh Mahal (3:31:81) while the latter timed 1:23:41 to surpass record of 1:26:42 set by Asif Shafiq.
Rizwana ended the day with a fine double. After capturing 800m gold, she completed the double helping her team win the 4x400m relay
Karachi’s Nazia Ishaq hurled the iron ball to a distance of 8.40m to win gold while Amama Uroj also of Karachi claimed gold in the high jump when she cleared the bar at a height of 4.7ft.
