Law, order situation in Balochistan reviewed

QUETTA, June 14: The provincial government said on Wednesday it was determined to protect the life and property of people and take adequate measures for the safety of national installations in the province.

A high-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf reviewed the law and order situation, against the background of the Sariab road blast and other subversion activities.

Balochistan’s Inspector General of Police Chaudhary Mohammad Yaqub informed the meeting about the progress made in the probe into the Sariab bomb blast and said that police were working on different aspects of the incident.

The meeting was also informed on steps taken to strengthen security.

The meeting while discussing the law and order situation and other related issues taken important decisions to check recurrence of such incidents in future and improving of law and order situation in the province.

The meeting decided to take measures to improve the working of law-enforcement agencies, beef-up security and deploy police personnel in plainclothes at public places to improve the intelligence system.

The meeting was of the view that involvement of foreign hands could not be ruled out in recent subversive activities.

Provincial Home Minister Mir Shoaib Nausherwani, Chief Secretary K.B. Rind, Provincial Police Officer Chaudhary Mohammad Yaqub, Nazim of Quetta Mir Maqbool Lehri, Director-General Balochistan levies Nawabzada Hamayun Khan Jogezai and other officials attended the meeting.

In another meeting, the chief minister was briefed on the drought Situation and distribution of livestock among victims.
