Tea auction

NAIROBI, June 14: Kenyan tea prices were generally firmer at this week's auction as buyers increased their activity in anticipation of decreasing supply due to cold weather, brokers said on Wednesday.

A total 106,483 packages were put up for sale with only 7,140 remaining unsold.

Brighter Best Pekoe Ones (BP1s) fetched $2.15-$2.49 per compared with $1.97-$2.60 per kg at the last auction. Brighter Pekoe Fannings (PF) Ones sold at $2.29-$2.71 per kg compared with $2.14-$2.57 fetched at the last week's auction.—Reuters
