BELFAST, June 13: Opener Marcus Trescothick scored 113 on Tuesday to help England to a 38-run win over Ireland in the one-off One-day International. Trescothick hit 12 fours and put on 142 with Ian Bell (80) in an England total of 301 for seven in the Belfast match, the first between the two countries.
Both men were dismissed by medium-pacer John Mooney who finished with three for 79.
Dublin-born opener Ed Joyce was dismissed by Dave Langford-Smith for 10 and captain Andrew Strauss went for four.
Ireland replied with a creditable 263 for nine, although all the batsman struggled against Steve Harmison who returned to the side after missing the three-test series against Sri Lanka through injury.
Harmison took three for 57, including the wicket of Joyce's brother Dominick for a duck. He also delivered eight wides, two of them costing five runs each when they shot past wicket-keeper Geraint Jones.
