Sindh Games: Aneeq, Mohib set new mark in swimming

HYDERABAD, June 13: Swimmers of Karachi and Larkana excelled in the pool when they surpassed three records in the 10th Sindh Games swimming meet on Tuesday. Karachi’s Aneeq Anwar set new mark in 200m freestyle clocking 2.44.19 surpassing the existing record of 2.50.16 set by Agha Shahmir, also of Karachi. He completed double when he broke the 200m individual medley record clocking 2.57.57. The previous record of 3.01.13 was held by Karachi’s Javed Taqi.
Larkana’s Mohib Ali Chandio proved his mettle when he completed 200m backstroke in 3.09.40 to break the record of Asif Shafiq (3.11.33) set by him at the 8th Sindh Games.
Squash (men): Shahroze bt Sajjad Ahmed 9-0, 9-0, 9-0; Ansar Khan bt Asad Bhutto 9-0, 9-0, 9-0 ;Ahsan Arain bt Tauqir Ahmed 9-0, 9-0.
Mirpurkhas beat Larkana in semi-final by 3-0. Abdul Rehman beat Zohaib Ali by 9-1, 9-0, 9-0; Rehan Ahmed beat Ghulam Akbar by 9-4, 9-0, 9-0; Amir Ali beat Ghulam Murtaza by 9-0, 9-0.
Karachi defeated Mirpurkhas in semi-final by 3-0. Naveed Alam beat Rehan Ahmed by 9-0, 9-0, 9-0; Ashfaq Hussain beat Abdul Rehman, who sustained injuries in third set. He was defeated by 9-1, 9-0. Abdul Saeed beat Amir Ali 9-0, 9-0.
(women): Karachi qualified for the final when they carved out 2-0 win against Sukkur in the pre-final. Sana slammed a goal in each half for the winners. Sukkur's Rozina wasted a penalty stroke.
