Hasba bill to be presented in PA again, says Durrani

CHITRAL, June 13: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Durrani has said that Hasba bill will be presented in the provincial assembly afresh next month and the government will get it passed to fulfil an election promise made by the MMA.

Addressing a public meeting in the polo ground here on Tuesday, he said that the promulgation of shariat and hasba act will relieve the people of all social injustices and ills and it is the ultimate objective of the NWFP government. He said that the commencement of work on the Lowari Tunnel project is the achievement of the MMA government.

“We fought your case uncompromisingly and boldly with the centre regarding the tunnel and we would ensure its timely completion”, he said.

Mr Durrani announced a number of development projects for Chitral which included construction of additional carriage road in the city, upgradation of degree college for boys to postgraduate level, establishment of degree college at Drosh, metalling of Arandu road.

He also announced to provide two fire brigades to the city, two buses each for degree colleges of Chitral and Booni and a grant of Rs3 million for streetlights of the city. For the quick uplift of the Kalash valley, he announced a grant of Rs15 million.

MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar, MPA Maulana Abdur Rehman, MPA Maulana Jahangir Khan and district nazim Maghfirat Shah also addressed the meeting.
