SUKKUR, June 13: Doctors removed four bullets from the body of Paryal Dayo, a Pano Akil-based journalist, who was injured in an attempt on his life on Monday night. After the operation, he was shifted to the intensive care unit. However, hospital sources said he was stable.

The injured journalist had been admitted to the Sukkur Civil Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Pano Akil police have arrested two accused Gulshan Mako and Rustam Soomro for their alleged involvement in the attack on the journalist.

During interrogation, they told police that Paryal Dayo was exchanging hot words with TPO Niaz Chandio over a plot of land and the police officer had threatened him of dire consequences.

But the injured journalist had told police that he (Dayo) was sitting in a hotel when TPO Niaz Chandio had called him on his mobile phone and asked him to vacate the plot. But he had refused saying that he would not as he had been in possession of all documents related to the piece of land.

On this answer, the TPO had said that he was sending men to take care of him. Later, he was attacked and injured.

PROTEST: Hundreds of journalists in the interior of Sindh protested on Tuesday against an attempt on the life of Paryal Dayo.

Newsmen of Sukkur, Rohri, Pano Akil, Ghotki and other areas staged demonstrations in front of their respective press clubs.

In Sukkur, journalists of print and electronic media staged a protest demonstration in front of press club.

Led by the secretary-general of the Sukkur Press Club, Lala Asad Pathan, and Mushtaq Gillani, they were raising slogans against police.

They said the police had failed in protecting people and their properties.

On the occasion, a committee of senior journalists was formed to meet the Sukkur police AIG, home secretary and home minister.

The protesting journalist vowed to demand suspension of Pano Akil TPO Niaz Chandio and his arrest. They said the TPO was involved in the attack on Paryal Dayo.
