KARACHI: Nazim’s directive on chairlift fare ignored
KARACHI, June 13: The Safari Park management has not yet reduced chairlift fares from Rs90 to Rs40 despite the city nazim’s, Syed Mustafa Kamal, directive issued about three months ago.
Sources in the CDGK said the project was not proving a success due to the high fares of chairlift rides. Even the middle class cannot afford to pay Rs90 per person per trip charged by the contractor.
The city government, in collaboration with the contractor, completed the much-awaited chairlift project in Safari Park four months ago to provide entertainment to the citizens.
The sources said the project was auctioned during the tenure of the former city government on Rs5 million annual charge. The terms and conditions, including the fare, were approved by the former city administration.
It was on the request of citizens that the present city nazim directed the EDO of the Community Development Department and the Safari Park management to reduce the fare to Rs40 and make this project economical for visitors.
However, the official concerned said talks were under way with the contractor and fare would be reduced soon.—Online
