SUKKUR: Complete strike in Dharaki

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, June 12: A complete strike was observed in Daharki on Monday and vehicular traffic on the National Highway was also blocked for some time on a protest call given by the Mahar group.

People of the group were protesting against allegations of kidnapping of the sister of minority councillor Hondal Das and her cousin. The rival Lund group accused the Mahar group of the abduction.

Police have registered a case in this regard, involving the people of the Mahar group.

Hondal Das was elected in the recent local government elections with the support of the Lund group, which is led by Federal Minister of State for Defence Khalid Ahmed Khan Lund.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Mahar group claimed that the strike had remained successful and clarified that the charge of kidnapping on the Mahar group was false and baseless.

He said: “We believe in decent politics and cannot even think of playing such dirty tricks.”

BRICK KILNS: Sukkur irrigation officials with the help of law-enforcing agencies on Monday raided brick kilns erected along the Dadu Canal and removed them.
