Kicking King land main event with ease
KARACHI, June 11: Fancied Kicking King justified his top billing when he romped home to claim the feature event and made it two in a row in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Running on the heels of Arab Hi Arab in the five furlongs concluding event of the day, he overtook him about 100 yards from the finishing post to register a facile five lengths triumph.
The victory also earned jockey Mohammad Essa a fine double as he piloted four-year-old bay colt Baba Jani home in the second race.
Women horse owners-Ms Zainab Ali and Ms Benish Hasan also had a satisfying day when filly Mixed Blessing and bay colt Fascinate pulled off upset wins lowering the colours of Ultimate Victory and Daruwala in the first and fourth races.
Making amends after successive failures, mare First Shot picked up the spoils in the third race.
Mera Jugnoo has time and again proved to be a lucky animal for his owner M. R. Hussain. It was his day again as he outpaced joint favourite filly Sky Girl by five and a half lengths in the fifth race.
Three-year-old bay colt, The Concord, with no form worth, edged out fancied chestnut colt, Johnie Walker to grab the sixth race.
