LARKANA, June 11: The Larkana police have arrested Mullan Madad alias Madoo Unnar, the main accused nominated in the murder case of KTN cameraman Munir Sangi.

Mr Sangi was shot dead on May 29 while shooting a gunbattle between Unnars and Abros near Baqapur.

Confirming the arrest of Madoo Unnar, the District Police Officer of Larkana, Irfan Balouch told Dawn that police parties were dispatched to Punjab after getting the information about the presence of Madoo in that province.

He was arrested from Punjab, he said but did not disclose the exact location.

The relatives of the slain journalists had nominated Madoo as the main accused.

The DPO, however, said he was nominated in the FIR for abetment of the crime.

Abdul Karim alais Adloo Unnar who was nominated in the FIR had already been rounded up by the police, he said.

KILLED: A peasant Sabzal Leghari, a close relative of Aijaz Leghari, the general secretary of PPP Ratodero, was shot dead in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto on Sunday over a petty dispute. The deceased and the assailant had exchanged hot words in the village at a local hotel two days ago, the sources said. He was killed on Sunday while taking tea at a roadside hotel in the village. Meanwhile, Ghulam Sarwar a relative of the deceased had registered FIR against Badaruddain, Mohammad Paryal and Shafi Mohammad Chandio with the Naudero police station.

However, the killer along with his family, had vacated their houses and escaped towards an unknown destination, the sources said.
