Warder hurt in prison clash


SAHIWAL, June 10: A clash between the Sahiwal central jail officials and some prisoners has left a warder injured. The Civil Lines police have registered a case against five of the captives.

Reports said Adil, a prisoner who is facing 14-years rigorous imprisonment, went to see his friend Qasim but warder Muhammad Afzal stopped him. This incited the prisoners who protested and clashed with the jail officials, forcing the latter to baton-charge them. Warder Muhammad Afzal suffered minor injuries.

After controlling the situation, the jail authorities shifted Adil, Qasim Sabir, Qasim Kausar and Osman Ghani, all of who have been undergoing 25-year hard jail, to Block-7 (punishment cell).

On the report of the jail superintendent, the Civil Lines police registered a case against five of the prisoners.

Meanwhile, another prisoner Gulzar Ahmad, allegedly involved in 11 dacoity cases, was sent to the punishment cell. Reacting to it, Gulzar injured himself with a razor blade. Later, he was taken into custody and a case was registered against him.

NURSE’S RAPE: A medical officer has allegedly raped a nurse at his private hospital.

According to reports, Dr Shujaur Rehman had employed a nurse at his hospital in Fateh Sher Colony. He allegedly raped the nurse and asked her not to let the cat out of bag. The police have registered a case against the doctor. — Correspondent
