Drivers burnt alive in truck-tanker collision

JHANG, June 10: The drivers of an oil tanker and a truck were burnt to death while their helpers suffered serious burns in a head-on collision between the two near Khanowana, 56 kilometres from here on Jhang-Chiniot Road, on Friday night.

The collision produced a massive blast and both vehicles caught fire. The crew of both the vehicles were trapped in the fire and rescued by the villagers. However, drivers Umar Draz and Dost Muhammad succumbed to burns on the spot, while cleaners Azizullah and Zamir were admitted to the DHQ hospital with severe burn injuries.

WOMEN KILLED: Three women were killed in three incidents in different parts of Chiniot during the last 24 hours.

The first incident took place in Dil Khushab locality of the city on Friday in which Shakil stabbed his sister-in-law, a mother of three, to death over suspicion of bad character.

The second incident took place in Chak No 133 Bahadrywala, where unidentified people killed Razia and threw her body in a sugarcane field. The motive of the murder or identity of the assailants could not be ascertained.

In the third incident, unidentified people threw the body of Kausar Parveen into a drain after shooting her to death in Chak No 157.

TAXI SNATCHED: Four unidentified men snatched a taxi car near Uch Gul Imam in the Athhara Hazari police station area on Friday night.
