Budgetary proposals finalised

Published June 11, 2006

ISLAMABAD, June 10: The Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs and Statistics has underlined the need for equitable distribution of resources between the federation and provinces.

The meeting, which was presided over by Senator Ahmed Ali, made these observations while considering and finalising proposals of the members on the Finance Bill 2006. It suggested that steps should be taken to allocate funds for initiating new water projects in Balochistan and expedite work on the ongoing projects.

The committee in its five marathon sessions finalised recommendations for incorporation in the budget 2006-07. The committee will now submit these proposals in the Senate for approval and onward transmission to the Lower House for consideration.—Staff Reporter
