KARACHI, June 10: The countrywide fresh computerised electoral rolls would be published by May 30, 2007. This was stated by the Provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh, Chaudhry Qamar-uz-Zaman while talking to APP here on Saturday at a workshop.

Twenty-seven senior election officials from various parts of the province attended the workshop. Mr Zaman said that in connection with the preparation of the fresh computerised electoral rolls, a country-wide door-to-door survey would commence on July 15.

The enumeration process would continue till July 28 and a list of households would be compiled. In the next 50 days, the enumerators would fill in the forms at the doorsteps of people. Supervisors would be given 15 days, from September 12 to 26, for checking and then further checking would be performed by Assistant Registration Officers (AROs) from September 27 to October 10 under the supervision of senior EC officials.

A 90-day period has been allocated for data entry, to be completed by January 4, 2007.

In the next 15 days, transportation of the electoral rolls to districts would be undertaken and January 20 has been set as the date for the publication of the draft to be presented to people with advice to ensure enlistment of their names in the rolls correctly. If any name is missing or any error is found, they may submit an application for entry or correction within 21 days, from January 22 to February 12.

The printing process would be undertaken from March 21 to April 19 and the copies would be made available to Assistant Election Commissioners. The final electoral rolls would be published hopefully by May 30, 2007.—APP
