Duty on chemicals waived

ISLAMABAD, June 9: The government has exempted customs duty on import of 14 chemicals used in textile processing industries. An official announcement said that whole customs duties were exempted on these items at the recommendation of the textile ministry. The duties on these items ranged from 5pc to 25pc.

These items includes: citric acid, synthetic organic products of a kind used as fluorescent brightening agents; other whiting agent; ink for ink jet engraver; wax for wax jet engraver; printing gum under three different HS code; shoe adhesives; hot melt adhesive; enzymes, photo emulsion; pigment thickener and alginate, respectively.

Similarly, at the recommendation of the ministry, duty on some machinery parts, which were used in the textile industry, brought down to 20pc duty as against 35pc duty applicable for import of parts under the new Tariff Based System for the auto sector.
