Rana Naved bags award

Published June 9, 2006

LONDON, June 8: Rana Navedul Hasan could have played himself into Pakistan's squad for their upcoming tour of England after picking up a player-of-the-month award for his performances for Sussex in the county championship.

The seamer got the nod for the 750-pound award in the face of competition from Shane Warne after taking 27 wickets in three matches during the month of May, including an 11-wicket haul against Yorkshire.

Sussex are top of division one in the championship and unbeaten in six matches so far this season with Rana Naved's form a key factor in their run.—AFP
