KHAIRPUR, June 8: Members of the Sindh Employees Alliance took out a procession on Thursday in protest against a proposed ban on teachers’ unions.

SPLA central vice-president Noor Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh Employees Alliance chairman Liaquat Ali Dedhar and leaders of the Sindh Teachers Alliance led the procession.

The protesters marched through Panj Gulla road, Mall road, Chhatti chowk, Court road and reached the press club.

Office-bearers of the Sindh Teachers Alliance, Abdul Ghani Kumbhar, Asadullah Memon, Umerdin Jalbani and Mehboob Palh spoke on the occasion.

They criticised the Sindh chief minister for his role about welfare of teachers and promotion of education.

They said that during the Arbab’s government education standard had deteriorated badly.

They said that the government wanted to deprive teachers of their rights.

PROTEST: About 30 residents of Azam colony, including women, staged a demonstration outside the press club on Thursday.

They said that they had not received their guzara allowance which had been released by the district zakat office in June.

They said that the Deh Zakat Committee had given them only one instalment while the District Zakat Office had released two instalments.
