QUETTA, June 7: Gas supply from the Sui plant to most of the affected areas in the country was restored on Wednesday night after the main compressor plant resumed operation.
The supply was suspended late on Tuesday evening when the main plant was closed after outlaws blew up the pipeline feeding the plant.
The plant was switched on in the morning and 80 per cent of the supply was restored till night, said a senior official of the Pakistan Petroleum Ltd.
“In next 24 hours 100 per cent gas supply will be restored,” he said.
Sources, however, said that repairing of the damaged portion of the pipeline was still in progress and would be completed by Thursday.
BRIDGE BLOWN UP: Saboteurs blew up another railway bridge and damaged a section of track on the Harnai-Sibi section near the Sonari area on Wednesday.
Railway authorities said that the explosion was caused by two powerful bombs planted under the bridge No155.
At least half a dozen bridges have so far been blown up on the same rail section.
Pakistan Railways had suspended train services two months ago because of continual explosions on the Sibi-Harnai rail section. Railway authorities had found it difficult for restoring the train service on the section because of lack of security in the area.
Sources said that bridges and rail tracks that had been sabotaged had so far not been repaired. Meanwhile, tribesmen attacked various checkposts of the Frontier Corps in Dera Bugti and Kohlu.
Two rockets were fired in the Kahan area while an FC post was targeted in the Jandran area. Three rockets were also fired at security forces in the Loti and Sangsilla areas in Dera Bugti. No damage was reported in the three incidents.
Sources said that security forces returned fire and shelled the militants’ positions, forcing them to retreat.
They said that Anti-Terrorist Force arrested two suspects for their alleged involvement in a hand-grenade attack in Mach, a coal-mining town. Police identified the suspects as Mangay Khan Bugti and Majeed Bugti.
