KASUR, June 7: Contaminated water is the main cause of gastroenteritis and other stomach ailments. This was stated by speakers at a conference titled “Clean environment, better life” held here at the district bar hall by an American company on Wednesday.

Quoting a UN report, the speakers said 78 per cent population of the district has been suffering from different diseases. The incidence of gastroenteritis and other diseases could be brought down by provision of clean drinking water, they added.

They stressed on installation of water treatment plants to minimise discharge of untreated water from factories and regular chemical analysis of underground water so that the people could be saved from contracting diseases.

They demanded that the government should take stringent measures to check pollution of every kind so that the country could have healthy people.
