Reference filed against NAB official

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, June 7: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has said it filed a reference with the National Accountability Bureau against NAB deputy chairman Hassan Wasim Afzal and his wife Farkhunda Afzal for using the Badshahi Masjid Lahore as the venue of their daughter’s wedding ceremony.

The reference filed by MNA Nayyar Hussain Bukhari says, “By misusing their official positions both the accused took over the Badshahi Mosque.

“The courtyard of the mosque was dragged in order to create holes to fix pillars of lighting and other installations to give it the shade of a private venue while outraging the sacredness and religious entity of the mosque which is admittedly meant only for prayers.”

Carpets were laid, furniture installed, fixtures were created to make it look like a marriage hall thus colossal damage to the national exchequer and this historic national property was done by both the accused in connivance of each other.
