Snooker: Aamir upsets Dileep


KARACHI, June 6: Aamir Habib surprised fancied Dileep Perwani to move into the quarterfinals of 10th Karachi Club Open Challenge snooker tournament at KC Billiards Hall on Monday evening.

Aamir took the first two frames. But Dileep hit back when he snatched next two frames to make it 2-2. But in the deciding frame Aamir showed controlled potting and safety play to win 60-45 despite a great challenge from Dileep.

Brothers Qassim Kamani and Baqar Kamani sailed into the last eight rounds of the competition but third brother lost. Qassim whipped Asadullah Aslam in straight frames laced with a fine break of 58 in the opening frame and 32 in the final frame.

His younger brother Baqar beat Huzefa Mushtaq 3-0. The third brother Asad went down against Ahad Ali Khan 3-1.

Also booked places in the quarterfinals were veteran Sarwar Siddiqui, Asim Ghani, Aneel Bherwani and Bharat Sitiani.
