KARACHI, June 6: The serving President of the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association, Karachi, and consultant ophthalmologist, Dr Misbahul Aziz, was re-elected for the term 2006-08.
According to a PIMA statement, its members cast their votes by secret ballot.
It may be mentioned that according to PIMA's traditions, no one contests or canvasses for posts. Members rather vote for the most suitable person among themselves.
The annual dinner was also attended by a large number of other doctors and health personnel, who had contributed to relief efforts of PIMA in the recent earthquake. They were honoured with certificates and shields.
About 20 other doctors were awarded shields for speaking in CME programmes organized by PIMA-Karachi in 2005.
Former City Nazim Karachi Niamatullah Khan was the chief guest on the occasion while Chairman Gallop Pakistan Ejaz Shafi Gillani was invited to speak on ‘Seerat-i-Tayyaba Aur Hum’.
Earlier, Dr Ahmer Hamid presented a report of PIMA Karachi's activities and projects.
