Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Sukkur DPO Ghulam Shabbir Shaikh said that on secret information, a police team, led by DSP Manzoor Ahmed Sangri and Abad SHO Jehangir Mahar, cordoned the area.

He said that on seeing police, the terrorists opened fire which was returned.

Their third accomplice Brohi Shar escaped, he said.

The DPO said that during initial interrogation, the accused told that Ahmed Nawaz Rind was supervising the mission.

He said that police received threats after their arrest and when phone calls were traced, it was revealed that calling numbers were of public call offices of Jafferabad and Naseerabad towns of Balochistan.

He said that the terrorists were threatening of blowing up Lansdown bridge and Sukkur barrage.

He said that security had been tightened at all important and sensitive places while plain-clothed policemen had been deployed to keep vigilant eye.

Locals said the reason of the murder was an old enmity.
