GUJRANWALA, June 5: The education department on Monday suspended two teachers from service after failure of 31 class VII students out of 41 of government high school No.2, Ghakkhar Town in annual examination.
The department also sealed the record of annual examination and ordered an inquiry.
Reports said unsuccessful students and their parents were holding a demonstration outside the school.
In the meantime, Punjab Special Education Secretary Syed Shabbar Raza Zaidi, who was passing through the GT Road, saw the students carrying banners against the department.
He stopped there and got information about the protest. Later, the secretary called EDO (education) Raja Khadim Husain who sealed the examination record of class VII, suspended class in-charge Muhammad Idris from service and appointed district education officer (DEO) Ikramul Haq Gohar as inquiry officer.
The EDO also suspended another teacher, Syed Karamat Ali Shah, from service when citizens complained that he was constructing his house and took students there for labour during school hours. School clerk Rana Irshad was suspended for absence from duty.

The meeting was presided over by Town Naib Nazim Raza Mustafa while UC naib nazims, councillors and contractors were also present.
The meeting was told that the contract had been auctioned for Rs18 million last year.
Town Nazim Adil Farooq Manj assured the treasury and opposition benches that equal development funds would be provided to councillors without any discrimination.
