Five arrested with 1,575 liquor bottles
VEHARI, June 5: The police claimed on Monday to have seized a large quantity of liquor from G-block Vehari and Gagoo area at Chak No. 245-EB and arrested five drug peddlers.
DPO Mukhtar Tikka said Danewal and Gagoo police on information conducted raids, recovered 1,575 bottles of liquor and arrested Shahryar Siddiqui, Abdullah, Niamat, Liaquat and Ashiq.
MURDERED: Driver of a mini-truck was allegedly murdered here on Monday morning in Allama Iqbal Town, Vehari.
Reports said Mashooq Ali of Mailsi was present in Colony Chowk when Iqbal and his son Fakhar came there and booked his loader for Vehari.
Mashooq and his brother Maqbool came to Vehari where Fakhar along with his men gagged them and detained them at a house, taking away the loader. Later, Mashooq died of suffocation.
Police have registered a case.
