ISLAMABAD, June 5: The government has allocated Rs27.178 billion for law and order and securities issues for the forthcoming fiscal year. According to the budget 2006-7, of the allocation, Rs19.178 billion has been earmarked for non-development side and Rs8 billion would be spent on development schemes under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

In the total outlay of the PSDP for the interior division, the share of foreign investment will be Rs3.162 billion.

In the non-development expenditure, Rs329.22 million has been earmarked for the interior division, Rs2.19 billion has been allocated for Islamabad, Rs293.6 million will be given to passport organisation, Rs8.752 billion will be spent on civil armed forces, Rs1.757 billion have been allocated for the Frontier Constabulary, Rs356.67 million has been earmarked for the Pakistan Coast Guards, Rs4.581 billion will be spent of the Rangers and Rs916 million has been allocated for other expenditure.

PSDP: The government has allocated Rs2 billion for the Balochistan Constabulary and converting B area in the province into A area, Rs500 million has been earmarked for police record and office management information system, Rs100 million will be spent on establishment of the National Forensic Science Agency in Islamabad, Rs127 million has been allocated for automated finger prints identification system, Rs23 million will be spent on National Police Academy in Islamabad and Rs20 each will be spent on judicial complex and construction of C type police stations and barracks in the capital.

An amount of Rs6.9 will be utilised on construction of flats for Federal Investigation Agency in Hyderabad, Rs19.67 million has been allocated for houses for Frontier Constabulary at Hayatabad, Rs50 million will be spent on construction of accommodation for Abdullah Shah Ghazi Rangers in Karachi, Rs10 for construction of roads in Rangers headquarters in Lahore, Rs16 million on houses for Rangers in Lahore, Rs5 million for horse stable in Islamabad Police Lines, Rs10 million for construction of houses for 15 superintendents of police in Islamabad and Rs10 million for residences of judges in Islamabad.

In addition, Rs197 million will be spent on machine-readable passports project, Rs35 on construction of 18 platoon posts, Rs25 million each on construction of accommodation for Rangers in Kasur and Sialkot, Rs25 million on accommodation for police at Aiwan-i-Sadr.

The government has earmarked Rs10 million each for construction of FIA police stations in Multan and Faisalabad, Rs20 for construction of flats for FIA staff in Islamabad and Rs20 million for construction of 12 platoon posts in Balochistan.

It has allocated Rs306 million for procurement of fire-fighting vehicles for Islamabad.

An amount of Rs24.8 million has been earmarked for construction of FC headquarters and lines in Islamabad and Rs52 million for construction of FC establishments in Gilgit, Malakand, Shabqadr and Kanju.
