KARACHI, June 4: A man died in celebratory firing during a wedding in the Garden West area late Saturday night. Police said the incident occurred in the Dhanchal Compound where Mohammad Nadeem suffered a fatal bullet wound. He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have arrested Abdul Ghani, brother of the groom, after registering a case.

WOUNDED: Five persons suffered acid burns in Saeedabad on Sunday evening.

Police said four persons came to the house of Nadeem in Sector 5-G. As they tried to throw acid at Nadeem, he snatched a bottle from the suspects and also poured its content on them. During the scuffle all the five men suffered acid burns.

They were initially taken to the nearby Murshid Hospital from where they were referred to the burns unit of the Civil Hospital. The four suspect were identified as Abu Bakar, Gulfam, Asghar and Abdul Qadir.

Giving details about the incident, the SHO of the Saeedabad police station said Shafiq, 13, complained to his brothers that he was sexually attacked by Nadeem.

The three brothers and their friend went to avenge the incident, police said. However, Shafiq has been taken by the police for medical examination to ascertain his statement.
