DADU, June 4: Pakistan People’s Party leader Pir Mukarramul Haq claimed on Sunday that he was arrested in a false NAB case to force him and his wife, MPA Farzana Raja who was secretary information of the PPP, Punjab, to change loyalty.

Mr Mukarram, a former minister of law and managing director of the Printing Corporation of Pakistan, said that the NAB had registered false cases of corruption against him.

Accompanied by local PPP leader, Shafi Mohammad Memon, he told a press conference at the local press club that the Punjab government had offered his wife to take oath as a provincial minister in exchange for quitting the PPP but she refused.

Mr Mukarram said that the Punjab police had sent him to Mianwali jail for three years and continued to torture him, which made him seriously ill but the jail administration under the directives from chief minister Punjab denied him any medical treatment.
