KARACHI, June 4: Schools situated in Taiser Town, Hawkesbay and in the resettlement areas for the affected people of the Lyari Expressway will not remain closed during summer vacation.

Instead, special classes will be conducted to teach children English; the teaching hours will, however, be minimized.

This was decided in a meeting of the Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project (LERP) held at its office on Sunday. Shafiqur Rehman Paracha, Project Director, presided over the meeting.

It was decided that competent English teachers of the city’s reputed schools would be requested to donate one day for teaching English in the schools situated in the resettlement project.

The admission process at the newly opened schools of the project will also continue during the vacation so that a maximum number of children can be enrolled.

Children who have never attended school will be encouraged to get admission to these schools.

Recreational activities like drawing, painting, etc will especially be focused on during the summer vacation classes.

School uniforms, books, stationery, shoes, and other educational items will be provided to the students free of cost.—PPI
