Differences settled, says Arbab

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, June 2: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Guam Rohm sees no chance of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto returning to Pakistan in the foreseeable future.

Talking to reporters at a ceremony here on Friday, he said Ms Bhutto knew very well that she would never get a chance to become prime minister for another term. Thus, he said, she would not come to Pakistan, her statements to the contrary notwithstanding.

The chief minister claimed that the ruling PML would win the next elections from Sindh with a thumping majority. He said the PPP would not get even a single seat.

Answering a question about his tensions with the MQM, Arbab said he could not be held responsible. He said he had never wanted to cause the tensions in the past nor would he want the relations to worsen in the future. He said all differences between the two sides had been settled.

He said there was no chance for the change of the Sindh governor.

JAM YOUSUF: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf holds a neighbouring country responsible for the attacks in his province. Without naming any country but leaving no doubt that he was referring to India, he said a neighbouring country was trying through Afghanistan to create troubles in Balochistan.

He denied that a military operation was going on in his province. About the presence of the army there, he said it had been deployed to protect important national installations.

Answering a question, he said he had never opposed the construction of Kalabagh Dam. He said he was in favour of dams for they were needed for the prosperity of the country.

He praised President Musharraf for paying special attention to Balochistan which was facing a number of problems.
