Three children drown

KHAIRPUR, June 2: Three children drowned in a water reservoir in That village near Shadi Shaheed on Friday. Reports said that Noshad Ali, 6, his sister Noshab, 5, and Ahsan, 10, slipped when they were trying to scoop up water from the reservoir.

The villagers took the bodies out and thinking that they were unconscious took tham to the Civil Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

PROTEST: Activists of Sindh National Party staged a rally on bicycles and motorbikes on Friday to protest against the murder of TV cameraman Munir Sangi.

Led by Sadruddin Phulpoto and Waseem Soomro, the rally drove through Station Road, Khaki Shah Pul, Mall Road and Court Road before culminating at Civic Centre Chowk.

The protesters demanded the murderers’ arrest and security to journalists in interior Sindh. They also offered fateha for the departed soul.

PLF: The People’s Lawyers Forum (PLF) on Friday appealed to the chief justices of Sindh High Court and Supreme Court to take suo motu notice of Sindh government’s decision to give jobs quotas to its coalition partners.

Speaking on the occasion, PLF Sukkur region president, Liaquat Shar said that the quota system meant that the jobs would be sold and not provided on merit. The meeting condemned the disconnection of power supply to old Sindhi villages in Karachi and said that villages established under Gothabad Scheme were provided all the basic amenities.
