KARACHI, June 2: The Board of Advanced Studies and Research, the University of Karachi, has approved award of 16 PhD, eight MPhil and four MS and MD degrees in various disciplines.

According to a university spokesman, Amena Zahra Ali (Clinical Psychology), Asghar Mehdi (Pharmacology), Kamaluddin (Sindhi), Azizur Rahman, Waqar Ahmed, Aneela Naz, Syed Imran Hassan and Azharul Haq (Chemistry HEJ), Agha Muhammad Nasir Khan and Nisar Ahmed Turabi (Urdu), Farhat Agha Botany and Abdul Rahim (Philosophy), Muhammad Ishaq (Islamic Learning), Amjad Ali Saqib (Political Science), and Mumtaz Ali and Sadia Rafi (Social Work) were awarded PhD degrees.

Those who were awarded MPhil degrees were: Tauqeer Abbas (Botany), Kamran Alam, Dr Hyder Raza Naqvi, Saima Mahmood and Nuzhat Sultana (Pharmacology), Anab Fatima (Pharmaceutics), Hina Furqan (Pharmaceutical Chemistry) and Fida Hussain Awan (Chemistry).Students who were awarded MS and MD degrees were Dr Ali Khan Dahri, Dr Ubaid Arshad and Dr Engineer (MS in Orthopaedic Surgery) and Dr Mansoor Ali (MD in Cardiology). –PPI
