DUBAI, June 1: Leader of the PML-N Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, during his meeting with party workers on Thursday, said that his party would strive for supremacy of parliament and the Constitution and genuine empowerment of masses.

According to a press release, he lauded the ‘Charter of Democracy’ as being conducive to the writ and an agenda of such important factors as autonomy and civil rights of the provinces, Fata and tribal belt, which would ultimately strengthen the federation.

He said that the remaining component parties of the ARD would soon become signatories to the charter and all their reservations would be addressed.

He criticised the policies of the government, citing rampant inflation, poverty and lawlessness, which have prevailed ever since the military regime came to power six years ago.

He condemned what he called glaring examples of political vendetta being carried out by the government against workers of his party like kidnapping of the PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal.

He also mentioned the arrest and detaining of such political leaders and activists as Javed Hashmi and Yousuf Raza Gillani who were still languishing in jails.—Online
