ISLAMABAD, June 1: A man from Balochistan, whose son and daughter-in-law were killed allegedly by the latter’s father in October 2005, here on Thursday accused the police of protecting the killers instead of arresting them.

Haji Mohammad Akbar Khan had come all his way from Balochistan to tell his ordeal before the media along with the chief of Progressive Women’s Association. He said his son Jaffar Khan married Ayesha, the daughter of Haji Faizullah, on June 19, 2005.

Faizullah, he said, was not happy over the love marriage; so he started hurling threats at the couple and the boy’s family. Afraid of being killed, the couple shifted from Quetta to Peshawar and started living there. But Faizullah did not spare the couple even there and killed them in a bazaar at Peshawar on October 30, 2005.

Haji Akbar said since then he had been seeking justice but so far the culprits had not been arrested. He alleged that some police officials were providing protection to the killers.

He said he had registered a case against the accused in the Gulbahar police station of Peshawar on the same day but neither the NWFP police nor the Quetta police arrested the culprits.

He alleged that the Quetta police were providing support to the culprits. Encourage by this, he said, the killers have been threatening him and his family members. My family is in danger, he alleged.
