ATTOCK, June 1: Police seized huge quantity of narcotics and ammunition near Khushalgarh checkpost on Kohat-Pindi road on Wednesday night and arrested two alleged smugglers.
District Police Officer Zafar Iqbal Awan told a press conference here on Thursday that on a tip-off that a consignment of illegal arms was being smuggled from NWFP to Punjab, a barrier was drawn near Khushalgarh bridge in Jhand police area.
A suspicious truck (DR-1275) was singled to stop, which was driven by one Haji Mohammad Qasim accompanied by his brother Ejaz Khan. He said the police recovered 16kg heroin, 104kg hashish, 2.2kg opium and 200 bullets of Klashinkov from the vehicle, which was also impounded. The value of the narcotics was estimated to be in millions of rupees.—Correspondent
