Constable held

RAWALPINDI, June 1: A police constable was arrested for allegedly attacking and injuring a security official of the office of the deputy inspector general of police Rawalpindi on Wednesday, police said.

Saeed Ahmed, performing his duty at the IN gate of the DIG office, directed the police constable Muhammad Asif to park his vehicle at a proper place, which annoyed him.

Constable Asif got out of his vehicle and allegedly attacked, beat and injured Saeed Ahmed. On hearing hue and cry of the victim, the staff and senior police officials of the DIG office rushed to rescue Saeed Ahmed.

Saeed Ahmed who sustained head injuries was removed to hospital, while the accused constable was overpowered by the police and handed over to the Civil Lines police which registered a case against the constable.

ROBBERY: Two robbers ransacked the house of a former Medical Superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) in the jurisdiction of Banni police on Thursday, police said.

Syed Asghar Hussain, the former MS told the Banni police that two robbers entered his house in Saidpur scheme and held his wife, son and daughter-in-law at gunpoint and forced them to give up the cash and gold ornaments.

The robbers snatched cash, gold ornaments and two cell phones valuing about Rs 500,000 and escaped.
