London sugar falls


LONDON, June 1: London sugar futures fell on Thursday on trade and fund selling and possibly on hedge selling against an EU sugar export tender, and traders said they expected New York raw sugar futures to open lower.

Benchmark August as down $4.50 or 1.01 per cent to $442.50 per ton in brisk volume of 1,942 lots at 1046 GMT, having traded from $445.00 to $439.90.

October was down $6.50 or 1.49pc at $428.50 in volume of 895 lots after moving from $435.60 to $427.10.—Reuters
