Pakistani balls to be used in World Cup

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 31: German Ambassador Dr. Gunter Mulack said on Wednesday that Pakistan will make their mark at the FIFA World Cup through their footballs.

"Pakistan will almost be in every match," Mulack told a news conference at the German Embassy, on the eve of the tournament.

For a nation that can only dream of qualifying for the elite competition, a good number of their footballs to be used in the showpiece event means Pakistan will be well represented at the June 9 to July 9 finals in Germany.

Mulack felt that despite exporting quality footballs, the Pakistani manufacturers needed to make efforts to promote the game within the country.

The ambassador said that if ever there was a serious initiative from Pakistan seeking German assistance in football, it would be considered positively.

"We can look into the possibility of sending a trainer."

While hoping for a well-organised tournament, Mulack said that it was an honour for Germany to be hosting the finals for a second time.
