PTCL office attacked

GUJRANWALA, May 31: As many as four people allegedly attacked Pakistan Telecommunication Company’s Rahwali SDO office damaging its furniture and phone sets in the official’s absence on Wednesday.

Reports said Rahwali exchange Sub-Engineer Syed Wazahat Nasim Kazami got registered a criminal case against the accused for making hoax calls a few days back.

The armed accused, Nasim and Asim Shah, along with their two unidentified accomplices attacked the office in Mr Kazmi’s absence and escaped.

Police are investigating the matter.

APCA STRIKE: The All Pakistan Clerks Association observed complete strike here on Wednesday to press for acceptance of its demands and held protest meetings.

APCA divisional president Tahir Mahmood Bhatti and other office-bearers visited various government and semi-government offices and expressed satisfaction over the strike’s success.

Speaking to the strikers, they vowed to continue their efforts till the acceptance of their long-standing demands.

PRISONERS: Over 90 prisoners involved in minor cases were released here on Wednesday.

Reports said that additional sessions judge Wamiq Javed and judicial magistrate Irfan Sundho visited the jail and got prepared the list of prisoners involved in petty cases. Later, they ordered their release.

They also checked various barracks and the kitchen and directed the jail authority to provide better facilities to prisoners in accordance with the jail manual.

They were also accompanied by jail superintendent Mian Shaukat Ali and other senior officers.

CAUGHT: Two members of an organised gang of hired impersonators were caught red-handed by BISE chairman Masudul Haq in a raid at Government High School, Dhulley, and Government Higher Secondary School, GT Road, here on Wednesday.

Accused Sajid Amin was taking examination in place of Asad Bilal at Dhulley while M. Arshed in place of M. Shehzad at Higher Secondary School. Both of them were handed over to the police.
