ISLAMABAD, May 31: Naheed Khan, political secretary of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, has warned jail officials and bureaucracy not to harass political activists as sooner than later they will be held accountable for the excesses they meted out to them.

In a statement, she said Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani was in prison because he had provided jobs to over 450 poor youth and had saved their families from poverty and hunger.

Now the regime violating Supreme Court’s orders has confiscated his computer in prison thus inflicting mental torture upon him, she said.

Ms Khan said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) succumbed before sugar and land mafia, and failed to take any action against generals involved in massive financial corruption like the purchase of locomotives from China, which could not be used on Pakistani tracks.

She said NAB remained unmoved when the profit-making Pakistan Steel Mills was sold in the name of privatization for peanuts.
