Kashmir boat tragedy toll rises to 22


SRINAGAR, May 31: Divers pulled five more bodies from a lake in Indian Kashmir taking to 22 the number who died when a Indian navy boat carrying schoolchildren capsized, the army said on Wednesday.

“The army and navy divers have recovered five more bodies of schoolchildren from Wular lake,” an army spokesman said.

The seven to 14-year-olds were having a ride in the motorboat when it sank on Tuesday on Wular Lake, 70km north of Srinagar.—AFP
